Pregnancy Massage

What is a pregnancy massage?

It's a relaxing massage to de-stress and address any areas of tension and pain. During pregnancy there is often some lower back and hip pain/tension due to the ever-increasing weight being carried in front, digestive and breathing issues due to the crowding of organs in the abdominal cavity and upper back issues due to the increasing breast size. Massage is also good at relaxing the nervous system, which can lead to better quality sleep and feeling more relaxed about birth.

Regular massages can help with muscle aches, joint mobility, improved circulation, give a boost to the immune system and help with all conditions associated with stress and anxiety.

What are the benefits from a pregnancy massage?

A massage can help pregnant women experiencing any of these conditions:

  • Muscle aches and headaches

  • Swollen ankles and feet

  • Stress/anxiety

  • Depression

  • Insomnia

  • Blood pressure and circulation

  • Digestive disorders

What happens during a treatment?

Following a consultation, your massage will be performed using a pure oil such as almond or sesame, directly on your skin. Just the area being worked will be exposed, the rest of your body will be covered by towels. You will either be in a seated position or you will be lying on your left side supported by pillows.

Your muscles will be warmed and gently worked to release tension, it can cover all areas of the body, depending on your needs and treatment length - back, shoulders, legs, arms, feet, hands, stomach, neck and face.
